More than 150,000 federal employees are leaving this week after taking buyouts, part of Trump’s plan to slim down government.

The cuts hit everywhere from NASA to the CDC – unions call it a “brain drain” as agencies lose veteran engineers, scientists, and health experts with no replacements lined up.

The Weather Service lost forecasters, agriculture labs lost toxin specialists, and health agencies are scrambling to keep programs running.

The administration insists it’s saving taxpayers $28 billion a year, but critics warn the loss of expertise could ripple through food safety, space exploration, and public health.
