In July, George Clooney penned an op-ed in The New York Times, urging fellow wealthy donors to reconsider their financial support for the Democratic Party unless Biden was replaced.
Clooney’s call to action had a swift impact, as major donors began withholding funds, effectively starving Biden’s campaign of the resources needed to continue.
This donor pressure eventually led to Biden stepping aside, despite having secured 14 million primary votes over several months, and Vice President Kamala Harris was installed as the party’s nominee.
