Are politicians and media ragebaiting to increase polarization so everyone is too busy to care about more important things?

Sharing is Caring!

From over-representing minorities to the algorithm showing you content guaranteed to make your blood boil there is seemingly no end to the amount of ragebait. Picking a mainstream movie is a matter of how much you want to be lectured at by the arrogant elite. Watching the news is less about important subjects and more about politicians on both sides arguing whether or not to paint another rainbow cross walk. Shows like Velma prove that getting people annoyed is guaranteed success. Social media knows this so instead of recommending you informative content they now show you the most annoying people and while politicians do their best over-representing trans people the algorithm does it’s best showing you the most mentally unstable ones guaranteed to make you wonder why we should ever support such people. Ragebaiting works, it gives people something to rage about but it also makes them stupid and blind. Media corporations and politicians know this and use it to their advantage by over-representing controversial minorities, deconstructing loved franchises and people in favour for “modern ideas”, meanwhile they can do whatever they want because people are too busy discussing the latest Indiana Jones.

Perhaps I’m just getting old but I haven’t been this bored online because good, informative content is rare, now it’s all tiktoks, YouTube shorts and IG stories trying to get the worst blood raising content .
