Authorities at Naval Air Station Pensacola are responding to an active shooter situation at Corry Station. The incident prompted a shelter-in-place order for all personnel on the base. Navy Security Forces and local law enforcement are actively searching the area for any potential threats.
Escambia County Sheriff Chip Simmons reported that authorities received a call about shots being fired at a building on the base. However, after sweeping the building, no signs of an active shooter were found. The gates to Corry Station, as well as the main and west gates of NAS Pensacola, have been closed as a precaution.
Capt. Chandra Newman, commanding officer of the base, emphasized the swift and expert response of the security team and local law enforcement partners. The safety and welfare of service members and their families remain the top priority.
