The South Fork Fire in Ruidoso, New Mexico has prompted emergency evacuations. The Ruidoso Office of Emergency Management issued an immediate evacuation notice for the Upper Canyon and Brady Canyon areas. Residents are urged to leave promptly without delay to gather belongings or protect their homes. An evacuation shelter is available at the Ruidoso Convention Center. If you’re in the affected area, please follow evacuation orders and stay safe.
Additionally, here’s a general tip for emergency preparedness: Load your emergency supply kit and evacuation bags into your vehicle and park facing the road for a quick exit. If you feel threatened, evacuate early—there’s no time to waste.
