Extreme weather battered parts of the Midwest over the weekend, causing death and destruction. The impact then shifted to Texas overnight, with the risk of storms and flash flooding. At least five people, including an infant, have died in Oklahoma and Iowa due to extreme weather. The tornado that struck Marietta, Oklahoma, was upgraded to an EF4 on the potency scale, making it the first EF4 tornado of the year in the country. The destructive tornado in Sulphur, Texas, was assessed at EF3. On Tuesday, severe storms are possible across parts of Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska, and Kansas, with risks including large hail, damaging winds, isolated tornadoes, and flash floods. Later in the week, another system will bring the risk of severe storms back to the central Plains and parts of Kansas, western Oklahoma, and northern Texas.
