Social security overhaul raises eyebrows ahead of election

Social Security Income benefits, reaching about 7 million recipients, are undergoing a significant overhaul just a month before the election. The program is set to expand to include individuals qualifying for SNAP benefits, which amounts to around 42 million people. Notably, the Social Security Administration operates as an “independent” agency within the Executive branch.
