Production problems with a computing unit manufactured by tech giant Huawei have forced certain Chinese automakers to postpone the delivery of flagship models, according to five people with knowledge of the situation.
According to two of the persons, Changan Auto and Chery Auto, which have collaborated with Huawei to create their high-end electric vehicle brands, have complained and are in discussions to find a solution.
According to one source, Seres, a smaller automaker, has also been impacted.
The issues arise at a time when Huawei is trying to attract additional capital for the Intelligent Automotive Solution (IAS), a business unit it intends to spin out after four years of operation. According to Changan Auto, it intends to hold up to 40% of the newly formed business.
