Snowfall began around 4 p.m. Saturday in the Lower Hudson Valley region and continued, occasionally mixing in with rain, overnight, during the first significant snowfall of the season.
The steady snow turned to a mix with rain around 1 a.m. in Northern Westchester and Rockland and then switched to consistent rain throughout the area by 3 a.m.
“The farther inland you went, the colder it stayed,” National Weather Service meteorologist Bill Goodman said.
