ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Police have arrested an “armed and dangerous” suspect after shootings at two locations left one victim dead and two others injured in Forest Park Friday, they said.
Forest Park police said Victor Demetrious Baymon was arrested after a brief pursuit in Cobb County.
Powder Springs police gave an update around 5:30 p.m., saying officers chased Baymon in the carjacked vehicle on Richard D. Sailor Parkway between Old Lost Mountain Road and New MacLand Road in Powder Springs.
Powder Springs police said the chase ended with the carjacked vehicle crashing. Baymon was injured and taken to the hospital, but his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, a police spokesperson said.
Forest Park police said officers were called to an “active shooting incident” around 10:37 a.m. Friday.
“At this time, the suspect is considered armed and dangerous,” police said around noon. Schools and city buildings were placed on lockdown.
