While the country’s president, Denis Sassou Nguesso, 79, is in New York, the army is taking control of key installations in the capital, local journalistic sources say.
The media suggests that the commander of the presidential guard is leading the coup. Africa Digest reminds that President Nguesso has been in government for decades.

And then I’ve read something this weekend that some of the countries which couped recently signed a miliary alliance with some more countries in the region.
But I don’t remember if Congo was one of them.
