Argentina pegged its peso to the U.S. dollar from the early 1990s to the early 2000s as part of a currency board arrangement.

Issues and Failure: While the peg initially helped to control inflation, it also made Argentina’s exports less competitive. Economic pressures built up, and the country faced difficulties in maintaining the peg, particularly during periods of financial stress. Eventually, the currency peg became unsustainable due to a combination of factors such as fiscal imbalances, recession, and rising debt. In 2002, Argentina abandoned the peg, resulting in a severe economic crisis and devaluation of the peso.
