Afghanistan’s Taliban troops have massed at the Pakistan border, escalating tensions between the two nations. This development follows a series of deadly airstrikes by Pakistan on Afghan territory, resulting in significant casualties and heightened hostilities.
The Taliban has mobilized approximately 15,000 fighters towards the border in response to these airstrikes. The strikes, which targeted a training facility in Afghanistan’s eastern Paktika province, killed dozens of people, including women and children. This has led to a strong retaliatory stance from the Taliban, who have vowed to defend their territory and respond to any further aggression.
In retaliation, Afghan forces have targeted several points inside Pakistan, claiming to have hit locations that served as centers for malicious elements coordinating attacks in Afghanistan. The situation has resulted in sporadic clashes along the border, with reports of casualties on both sides. The Pakistani military has also conducted raids in the restive northwest, killing 13 militants in separate shootouts.
