Tucker Carlson claims he was only given the axe from Fox to close negotiations surrounding the Dominion defamation lawsuit and ensure that Rupert Murdoch wouldn’t have to testify at trial.
In a new biography, Tucker, which DailyMail.com obtained a copy of, Carlson says he ‘understands’ why Fox gave him the chop for those alleged reasons and not over the shocking text he sent a producer about how ‘white men fight’ or any of his off-hand comments about his bosses.
He says he only became angry when the network started to ‘impugn’ his character in the days and weeks afterwards.
The book, Tucker by Chadwick Moore, will be published August 1.
Carlson, Fox’s most popular host, left the network in April, a week after Dominion Voting Systems reached a $787million settlement over claims it had been defamed by Fox ‘giving life’ to stories about voter fraud in the 2020 election
He was not fired but rather taken off the air, keeping his $20million-a-year salary.
Since then, he has launched a widely-viewed Twitter show. His contract with Fox is due to expire in January 2025.
