Israel’s defence minister: No ceasefire in Lebanon

Sharing is Caring!

Israel’s Defence Minister, Israel Katz, has made it clear that there will be no ceasefire in Lebanon as Israeli forces continue their military operations against Hezbollah militants. Speaking during his first meeting with the IDF General Staff Forum, Katz reaffirmed Israel’s commitment to its objectives: pushing Hezbollah beyond the Litani River and ensuring that northern residents are able to return home safely.

Katz stressed that any potential ceasefire proposal must include strict measures to prevent Hezbollah from rearming, particularly via Syria. This position underscores Israel’s determination to achieve strategic goals before considering any cessation of hostilities.

The conflict, which has seen a series of Israeli airstrikes and ground operations, shows no signs of de-escalating. Hezbollah has stated it has not received an official ceasefire proposal and continues its rocket fire into Israel. Despite some progress in talks, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar noted that enforcement of any ceasefire remains a major challenge.
