Washington, D.C., is bracing for potential unrest as businesses across the city board up their storefronts with plywood. Shops and cafes have taken precautionary steps, securing windows and doors, especially near key landmarks like the White House and the U.S. Naval Observatory, where additional fencing and barricades have been installed.
Ten states have activated their National Guard units, preparing for potential incidents surrounding the election. Alabama, Arizona, Delaware, Iowa, Illinois, North Carolina, New Mexico, Oregon, Wisconsin, and Washington state have mobilized troops, while Guardsmen in Colorado, Florida, Hawaii, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, West Virginia, and Washington, D.C., are on standby.
The National Guard’s primary tasks include cyber support, law enforcement assistance, and general support to maintain order during the election. This large-scale activation reflects a serious and coordinated response to ensure security amid anticipated tensions.
