Authorities have activated orange warnings for the Region of Murcia, Catalonia, and the Valencian Community as emergency personnel respond to numerous flooding incidents across the city. Residents are strongly advised to stay indoors and avoid driving, with warnings emphasizing the dangers of the ongoing situation.
The rainfall is forecasted to intensify, potentially accumulating between 100 to 150 liters per square meter in already affected areas, compounding the destruction from previous floods.
In this dire context, images of King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia visiting the flooded areas alongside residents have emerged, highlighting their solidarity during the crisis. Their royal presence starkly contrasts with the noticeable absence of career-focused politicians, raising questions about the responsiveness of leadership during one of Spain’s worst natural disasters in decades.
The pictures of Spanish King and Queen being with the people during biggest tragedy in Spain in decades, while the own career focused politicians are not visible, could not better show the difference between people who care and those who don’t.
