Tensions rise at the DMZ North Korea blows up connecting road and rail links…

Sharing is Caring!

SEOUL, Oct. 15 (Yonhap) — North Korea on Tuesday blew up roads connected to South Korea once seen as symbols of inter-Korean cooperation as it seeks to cement its animosity toward the South, which it regards as a “primary foe.”

“The North Korean military conducted detonations, assumed to be aimed at cutting off the Gyeongui and Donghae roads, at around noon and is carrying out additional activities using heavy equipment,” the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said in a text message to reporters.

Committed to ‘sacred war’
According to the state news agency of North Korea, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), these youth are committed to participating in what they call a “sacred war” to destroy the enemy with “the arms of the revolution.”

The reported surge in enlistments comes amid escalating tensions on the Korean peninsula. North Korea’s claim of over one million young applicants to the Korean People’s Army within just two days mirrors a similar declaration made last year.
