The decision came following an inquiry to a Lowe’s executive by popular campaigner Robby Starbuck. In recent months, Starbuck’s activism has prompted motorcycle manufacturer Harley-Davidson to reverse DEI policies, as well as farmyard corporations Tractor Supply and John Deere.

Lowe’s’ decision to amend its corporate policy on DEI initiative came before the conservative campaigner exposed the company.
In a three-minute video posted on X, Starbuck listed the preemptive changes: Lowe’s will withdraw from the Human Rights Campaign Corporate Equality Index where companies are assessed on their inclusivity to LGBTQ+ individuals.
