Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) just revealed the Democrats’ contingency plan to remove Trump if he secures a second term in the White House this fall. This plan hinges on invoking Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, the so-called “Insurrection Clause.” This clause disqualifies former government officials from holding office if they engaged in an “insurrection” after taking an oath to support the Constitution.
According to the Democrats, Trump incited the events of Jan. 6, 2021, when hordes of people stormed the U.S. Capitol and wreaked havoc. They label this as “insurrection” and accuse Trump of leading it, making him a prime target for disqualification.
Raskin warns that invoking the Insurrection Clause on Jan. 6, 2025, to prevent Trump from taking office “could lead to civil war.” He even calls for Democratic members of Congress to be given bodyguards, highlighting the gravity of the situation.

Adding fuel to the fire, Robert Costa of CBS News asked President Joe Biden if he’s confident there will be a peaceful transfer of power in January 2025. Biden’s response was a mess: first, he expressed no confidence if Trump wins, then hastily corrected himself to imply he’s not confident if Trump loses.
Biden further twisted Trump’s words, falsely claiming Trump threatened a “bloodbath” if he loses, stoking fear and hatred to sway public opinion. In reality, Trump was talking about potential job losses in the auto industry, calling it a “bloodbath” if he doesn’t win.
