CISA and FBI PSA warns of potential DDoS attacks on election infrastructure

Sharing is Caring!

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) did release a public service announcement (PSA) on July 31, 2024, regarding potential Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks on election infrastructure. The PSA emphasizes that while DDoS attacks could hinder access to election information, they would not impact the security or integrity of the election processes.

The agencies clarified that DDoS attacks are designed to overwhelm websites with traffic, making them temporarily inaccessible, but they do not compromise the actual voting systems or the integrity of the votes. The purpose of the PSA is to inform the public about the nature of these attacks and to reassure them that the core election processes remain secure.
