3 police officers injured in shootout at gas station in Omaha, suspect killed

Three police officers have been injured in a shooting at a QuikTrip convenience store in Omaha, Nebraska, with the suspect killed at the scene, authorities have confirmed.

The incident occurred at around 14:25 local time on Wednesday at the QuikTrip near 32nd and L Streets. In an initial statement, the Omaha Police Department (OPD) urged people to avoid the area, citing a “large police presence”.

“OPD is investigating an officer involved incident near the QT at 32nd and L Street. Avoid the area… Additional information regarding media staging forthcoming,” the force said on social media.

A later update stated: “Three officers are injured and taken to [a] local hospital. Non-life threatening injuries. Suspect in incident is deceased.”
