WATSONVILLE, Calif. —
A couple of high-dollar crimes are being investigated by Watsonville police including the reported theft of more than $100,000 worth of jewelry from a downtown merchant.
In that case, no guns or weapons were used. The business owner said he was the victim of two sneaky women.
Surveillance video inside Fatima’s Fine Jewelry on Main Street shows two women allegedly distracting a sales clerk and making off with the high-dollar loot. One of the owners of the jewelry store says the merchandise, including rings and necklaces, was worth more than $100,000.
“This is definitely very concerning anytime we have a theft here in Watsonville alone especially to be businesses. We know that these are hardworking people who are trying to make a living they are part of our community,” said Michelle Pulido, spokeswoman for Watsonville police.
