Vietnam’s internet connectivity massively disrupted with 3 undersea cables out, impacting global access.

Sharing is Caring!

Vietnam’s internet connectivity has faced disruptions once again due to three out of five submarine internet cables going down around June 15, 2024. These outages have significantly affected Vietnam’s connection with the world, making some offshore websites difficult to access. The impacted cables include:

  1. Intra Asia (IA) connection to Singapore.
  2. Asia Pacific Gateway (APG) link.
  3. Asia-Africa-Europe-1 (AAE-1) pipeline.

As a result, only two subsea cables are currently operational in Vietnam: the Asia-America Gateway (AAG) and the Southeast Asia-Middle East-Western Europe (SMW-3) cablesRepair timelines remain uncertain, as cable repair ships are in short supply, and identifying cable damage can take time
